what is this site?
This is instagamer---a place where video games are analyzed, rated, and discussed. Thorough game reviews are posted here with an honest, professional look at different genres of games. News and opinion articles are also posted here, giving you, the gamer, a better look at video gaming today.
Why should I get my reviews here?
Instagamer takes a different approach to reviews that many well-known gaming critics don't take. we look at games for their whole value without any personal bias, not for only their gameplay value or their co-op value. We realize that video games are a form of art, not just for pure fun and their substance is a lot more complicated than many players understand. If you are discouraged or unsure about a game, Instagamer gives you an additional look at the aspects to help you decide whether the game is right for you---or not.
How are games rated on this site?
Games are judged by 5 categories including mechanics, story, characters, dialogue, and visuals on a scale of 1-10, including decimal figures of no more than 1 decimal place. (Example: 7.4, 7.5, 7.6) These individual scores are averaged together to produce the overall score. (rounded to two decimal places for a more precise score.) Mechanics includes gameplay and functionality of the game. The story category is mainly self-explanatory, judged by the overall story itself and how it is implemented throughout the game. Characters are judged by their importance, design, and function in the game. Dialogue scoring is determined by not only what the characters say, but how good their voices sound. Visuals, lastly, is judged by the graphics of the game in all aspects. (environmental effects, physics, etc.)
***However, there are games such as the sims or bejeweled for example that have different aspects that go into them. The more casual games (simulation, matching) do not typically have stories and if they do, they never impact the quality of the game or contribute to its value. Games of this category are rated in 4 categories under the Casual Scale, including gameplay (options available for the game, how fun it is to play, etc.) mechanics (How well the game operates) visuals (how appealing the game is to look at) and sound (how appealing the music and/or sound effects you hear in the game are) This scale ensures that games created for pure enjoyment rather than story content and characters are rated fairly, but not the same way as games with stories and characters are.

IMPORTANT:
This site is still under renovation, so please be patient. This is a one-man effort, so it may take a long time to be under full operation. Many reviews had to be taken down due to the interface making the website lag, so a simpler less busy design is overhauling the old one. The old reviews will be re-uploaded in time. Thank you for your understanding.
